English Translation: “The relatives, the friends and the servants are all your enemies. They are only leading you to the court of death with lot of baggage. They seem to be smiling when they kill you, just like a sharp end of an ornament pressing against your chest.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:    Just like hatred and rage can hurt you; so can friendship and attachment (excessive love). They can make you forget yourself and become a noose around your neck. It will make you get into bad habits, gives you mental agony and kills you by deceit.” – Mankutimma

179-Papa Punya-karuma bandidirabahudu mahanada roopinali...

English Translation:   Our previous actions may come back to us as fate in many ways; as love, as a delighting smile, as naughty glances from the corner of the eye, as harsh insulting words. It has the habit of drawing you close and then throwing you out. It can hug you tight and burn you from inside. Who know what plan is it hatching to get you?” – Mankutimma

English Translation:  Death works in mysterious ways. She comes to you as enchanting damsel. She steals your mind. She sucks the life blood out of you. It kills you by taking life away from you little by little. She takes pleasure in doing so.” – Mankutimma

181-Kshanavondarole poorti Kolluvudu

English Translation:     The trident of the lord of death kills you in an instant. But love and attachment kills you slowly second by second. It puts a noose around your neck and tightens it bit by bit all your life.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:       “The cycle of debt is endless. The cycle of consequences of our actions are endless. The linkages from one birth to another is also endless. In spite of this, the world looks new for ever. The creator seems to relish this freshness.” – Mankutimma

183-Punyadinda banda siri mada mohagala moola...

English Translation:     “We get riches due to good deeds done in the past. These riches make us do bad things and hence accumulate bad karma. This bad karma makes us go through a lot of misery. When enduring misery, we do good deeds. Good deeds and Bad deeds thus beget each other and keep the cycle going on for ever. Blessed is the person who can grow beyond both sin and good karma so that he can end the cycle.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:     “Our interest in this world decreases eventually over time. A garland of flowers will not remain fresh for ever; it wilts. Just like that, a beautiful body may be hiding a itch inside. The world is also like that. It looks beautiful as long as we do not scratch the surface and dig deep. One must learn to enjoy the world by superficially glancing over it.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:      Is there no consideration to the hearts feelings? To the life? To the lovely feelings, love, compassion? Are all of these feelings just consequences of old deeds that fate throws away as dirt? If that be so, what is the excitement in life?” – Mankutimma

English Translation:  Entire life is a struggle. Alone in this world, we search for partners, make them struggle in their life. We wander all over the world and stretch out our hands to hold theirs. But we get lost in the whirlpool of love, debt and compassion.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:       In scrabble we carefully pick letters from out slate and make words. Just like that, in life search for suitable partners in our life. The day we find them, our life attains completeness.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:        Is there a man who does not surrender to nature’s allurement? She introduces us to various tastes, feeds us gourmet food, makes our mouth water, makes pant (at the spices), attacks our senses from ten directions.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:        “Nature is the teacher for all the indulgence we do. It puts beautiful creations in front of our eyes. It gives sweet fruits to please our taste buds. It makes wonderful notes fall on our ears.” – Mankutimma

190-Amrutakanava martya mrudhgatadi baytirisi...

English Translation:          “Nature has placed the precious drop of elixir (the soul) inside the destructible body made of earth (mud). It has put the blinders of attachment on the free thinking mind. It makes us see famine right in the midst of land of prosperity. Is nature being cunning or just humble (acting only as an instrument of the Creator)?” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:      When the body gets hungry, we struggle to find food just like the animals, birds or worms. Man usually forgets the hunger of the soul. This is because the body make a lot of noise when it is hungry. But the sould does not. Yet ultimately, it is the body that suffers” – Mankutimma

English Translation:          “Man’s heart is a battle ground of the Gods and the Demons (good and the bad). Emotions, indulgences and being adamant are all their armies. In illusions of just being so, winning and losing they exhibit the essence of life.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:       The supreme creator is very smart. With his two hands, he created two animals. And in one move, he merged them into one. They were a fox (ನರಿ) and a monkey(ವಾನರ) and Man(ನರ) was the result – cunning as a fox; fickle as a monkey.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:          “Who is there who can show us our inside thoughts? Is there any one who has seen his own inner thoughts? There are many many folds, lumps and knots in one’s own thoughts that are not visible easily to oneself.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:       “A man has four faces; so does a woman. Same number as the kind of relations one has. One face for the world, one for the family members, one to enjoy the pleasures of the world and one more his inner conscience.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:         “If one wishes to clean the world from all the imperfections, then one must start by creating a mirror for his own mind. Then he will be able to see the unique disgusting details of their own inner thoughts.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:         “A hurt tiger, an angry lion, porcupine, adamant cobra, mimicking monkey, raging dog and other animals with their frightening fighting rogue faces are all hidden inside a man’s mind.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:          “He went out to search for a honest person by holding a lamp in broad day light. He could not find one. He decided that the whole world is bad and started living a well. Such was the philosophy of Diogenes.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:       When water is poured at the roots of the tree every day, fresh sprouts emerge from the head of the tree. Like wise freshness is infused by the cosmic spirit into this world every day making it new every day.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:     “Air from the skies descends, wanders through the caves in the mountains and enters us in the form of breath. Just like that energy from the cosmic spirit enters us as life from somewhere.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:    Why is the Creator appoint providence to play with our lives? To make mankind learn some compassion. To make mankind realize that there is effectively no difference between him and the other man when he is put against providence. To make man realize that there is a soul/life in every body which is as important as the one in him. Realize this and try to become one with the rest of the world. Don’t live in a shell. ” – Mankutimma

English Translation:    “God who created the seasons is making life possible by cooking the elements of the earth – heating, cooling, shaking it. Similarly the providence is playing a similar game with our lives. Sometimes it supports bad guys and scrutinizing the good deeds. It has us completely under its control.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:  “Which pulse will boil (bake) in which water! Whose life will blossom at the cost of whose! No one can know the relation between them in advance. But can any one complain? It is a divine secret that one can not know.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:         “Where can one find a person who can escape from the clutches of providence? He who can help you get out of fear is a true friend. Harden your heart like iron, bend your back according to situations, shut your mouth – providence is the washer man and you are his donkey.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:    “God has reared two fighting goats. He has fed them well. He provokes them, eggs them to fight against each other. These goats symbolizes fate(providence) and human effort. He is watching the fight and laughing. There are no winners in this game even though at times either of the goats may feel good. You be wary of feeling proud of your own accomplishments.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:        “History of mankind’s prowess is a continuous story. Every new generation is making more progress than previous. He takes forward the consequences of his actions into the next life. This accounting is required to keep in check man’s confidence in his abilities going overboard. Just like a hook is required to control the mighty elephants.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:    As we see new things in this world being created every day we must realize that they are all being made from old things only. Just like the new water (from previous verse) will have some smells from the past (of the earth) anything new will bear some resemblance to the past. Also, will ‘new’ not become ‘old’ in time?” – Mankutimma

English Translation:    As insects and worms are being born and dying every day, as earth gets eroded and reduced everyday – some where in the ocean a new island is getting formed. As one diminishes, something else increases. There is no end to this process or to this world.” – Mankutimma

167-Kshitichakra ravichakra Rutuchakragaligihudu...

English Translation:    “The movement of earth and the Sun along its orbit, the cycle of seasons are all well defined and bound by the rules. Just like that, man’s fate is decided by the actions he takes. (Typically, we believe good returns follow good deeds). However, there are also some incidents in nature that are outside of the system that can not be predicted – like earth quakes and comets. So is man’s progress – unpredicatable.” – Mankutimma

English Translation:       Our relationships with one another is a result of our prior actions which brings us together (or tears apart) now. These relationships gives rise to feelings in our minds – liking, hatred, indulgence. Beauty, love (attachment) and other distortions will hamper us from seeing the truth. Finally it will result in us making more relations – good or bad. This is an endless net.” – Mankutimma –

English Translation:       You are the donkey that providence controls. It puts the weight of consequences of previous actions on you. It crafts a noose out of a rope made of your old actions. It puts the noose around your neck and tightens it. It dangles a handful of grass in front of you to keep you interested and dance to its tunes.” – Mankutimma –

170-Unuvududuvudu paduvudaaduvudu maaduvudu.....

English Translation:   What ever we eat, dress, endure, play, create are all consequences (or unsettled loans) of our previous actions. Everything is written clearly on the forehead. But there is no one who can read it. Will any amount of lamenting erase it?” – Mankutimma –

171-Indu maduveya habba naale vaikuntha titi...

English Translation:       “Today we rejoice since it is a wedding day. Tomorrow, it could be a funeral. Today we get a full course special meal. Tomorrow we may have to ask for alms. Today we have to fast. Tomorrow we may get special food. We will settle the debt of food by all these means.” – Mankutimma –

172-Ari mitra sati putra bandhu balagavadella...

English Translation:   Enemies, friends, wife, son and relatives are different forms of karma – consequences of old deeds. They are fresh sprouts of the creeper that represents the ever living debt of consequences. A family that rears the sheep with lot of love can turn tyrant and offer as sacrifice to the Goddess.” – Mankutimma
